NK 2008

So finally tonight, my first participation at the Nationale Kunstbeurs (National Art Fair) the annual, oldest and most respected gathering or artist in Suriname. I am participating with 3 older works, all Fine Art Nudes that have been shot in 2005. The reason for this selection is mostly a very personal and probably emotional one. Back when I made this work it was censored by my then employer and I was prohibited in participating or showing my work in an exhibition or on the web. When left the company in 2006, I decided that it was time to show the work in the artfair/exhibition, but somehow, I had not managed to register in time for the event. This year however, the year that I made photography my main activity, Shooting commercial, editiorial and private photography, I felt like I could not miss the event again. So tonight, 19:30 Paramaribo time it the opening. I would have loved to make one work specifically for this event and have it in my mind worked out in most details, but have not produced it as yet, so it will stay for the nex year. I also wanted to include some of my newer fashion work, but also for that it seems that there is no time to make it presentable, since my laptop crashed at a very crucial moment this week. You are all invited to visit me in booth 42 at the Nationale Kunstbeurs 2008, in Ons Erf at Prins Hendrikstraat, from today till the 8th of November.
